John 14: 13-18   Because Jesus and the Father are One.. and because He went to the Father.. He has given over the task of doing the Father's works.. His works.. to His disciples.. to this who believe in Him.  Just as He has called us to a "greater love" -  He calls us to greater works.. works that will bring others to believe.

In order to have this greater love and do these greater works.. Jesus tells us "And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it."   And then, He reminds us again of the most important condition.... "if you love Me, you will keep My commandments."

It is in the deep abiding love of Jesus that we can.. keep His commandments.. have a greater love.. and do the greater works.  But, Jesus is not through yet.. for He tells us that He will "ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you." (v16-18)

The Father, the Son, and the Spirit are calling us to believe.. to love.. to do His works and keep His commands.. and we find that it is in the abiding Presence of our God that He is glorified.. that we find purpose and peace.. that the life we live is not longer ours but Christ's.. because He lives that we live.. because He loves.. we love.. and because He is working, that we work and His will is accomplished.. His kingdom comes.. and His Name is exalted.

Father in heaven, we only seek to keep Your commands.. to do Your will. We ask this in the Name of Jesus.. complete in us all that You desire for Your glory. Amen.
