Zephaniah 3  Even though Jerusalem was rebellious and defiled.. even though she no longer trusted in the Lord or drew near to Him.. even though all her people were wretched sinners...

"The Lord is righteous within her; He will do justice. Every morning He brings His justice to light; He does not fail... "

God has not given up on His people. He does not give up on us either.  He has planned to bring justice in all the earth and in every nation. Those who call on His name and serve Him will be saved.  What a wonderful promise is found in verse 17:

"The Lord your God is in your midst,
A victorious warrior.
He will exalt over you with joy,
He will be quiet in His love.
He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy."

Or as the NIV says.. He will "rejoice over you with singing."

The Lord looks for the "meek and humble.." (v. 12 NIV) .. the "afflicted and poor" ( NKJ).. the "humble and lowly" (NASB).. those that trust Him, take refuge in Him... and He takes away His judgement and the punishment we deserve.. and He saves us.. "I will save the lame and gather the outcast, and I will turn their shame into praise and renown in all the earth." (v19b)

Our God is good!  He is kind!  He is merciful! He is wise!  His love is perfect and His grace abounds!
Hallelujah!

Father in heaven, we rejoice in Your salvation. Thank You for making a way for us to return to You, to be forgiven our sins, to be made new.  Help us to walk in Your holiness and righteousness, through the power of Christ in us, our hope of glory.  We want to be in Your Presence now.. hearing Your song of joy, knowing the depth of Your love. Come and fill us now we pray. In Jesus' name. Amen.
