Zephaniah 2  Verses 1 and 2 are a call.. and invitation for God's people to turn back before it is too late. "Gather yourselves together, yes gather.. .before the day of the Lord's anger comes upon you." 

Verse 3 "Seek the Lord, all you humble of the earth who have carried out His ordinances; seek righteousness, seek humility. Perhaps you will be hidden in the day of the Lord's anger." 

The rest of this chapter speaks of God's holy judgement on all the nations that surround Israel, those that arrogantly mocked and taunted her.  "The Lord will be terrifying to them, for He will starve (or destroy) all the gods of the earth; and all the coastlands of the nations will bow down to Him, everyone from his own place." ( v11)

Does verse 3 remind you of II Chronicles 7:14?  This passage has become a call to prayer for our church.. ".. if My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear form heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. " 

Father in heaven, we come before You to seek You.. to draw near to You.. to bow before You in humility and confession of our sins.  We pray for our nation that is desperate need of revival, that Your Name might be made known among the  people of America once again.  We pray for our community, that hearts would be made new through Jesus Christ.  We pray for our churches, to be faithful, pure, undivided, and true.  Fill us with Your Spirit and make us all that You desire for us to be. Let Your will be done.. may Your kingdom come.. and may Your Name be honored for You alone are God!  Amen.
