Titus 2  Paul urges Titus to teach "sound doctrine".. the Truth.. the gospel of Jesus Christ.  It is only this kind of teaching that will "purify.. a people for His own possession"... It is the only teaching that changes lives. It is only as we come to know the One who "gave Himself for us that He might redeem us from every lawless deed.. " 

Sound doctrine.. teaching that is free of error; uncorrupted; wholesome;  includes:

Teaching older men to be "temperate, dignified, sensible,  sound in faith, in love, in perseverance." 

It is teaching older women to be "reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips, nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good." 

It is teaching the younger women to be "sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being submissive to their own husbands.. " 

It is teaching young men to be sensible.. self-controlled.. wise. 

Sound doctrine is influential in behavior.. causing those who hold on to the Truth to be above reproach.. to do good deeds.. to work in "good faith".. It is in following this kind of teaching that we are purified.. made holy... righteous.. and godly.. a "people for His own possession". 

Father in heaven, keep us pure by Your Word and by Your Spirit that we might be more like Jesus. Thank You for the grace that You have shown us.. the redemption that You have provided for us.. and the Spirit that You have given us that we might be Your own possession. Amen.
