The central point of this chapter is found in verses 26-28, "See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse- the blessing, if you listen to the[ commandments] of Adonai your God that I am giving you today; and the curse , if you don't listen to the [commandments] of Adonai your God, but turn aside from the way I am ordering you today and follow other gods that you have not known."
The blessing of God - "rain in the right seasons". Every provision necessary so that they could feed their families. Fields and livestock, wheat, wine and olive oil.. daily bread. Life.
The curse - God's anger would "shut up the sky". No rain - no crops - no hope. Death.
They had a choice, as we do too. God calls us to make a choice.. and He wants us to "Choose Life".
We choose to obey His Word.
We choose to believe His promises.
We choose to live in faith, trusting in the One who is our Creator, Provider, and Master.
We are observing a world in turmoil these days. It is disheartening. It is filled with violence, anger, and hatred. But, we choose to "Trust and Obey".. for there is NO other way!
Father in heaven, we choose You. We choose to honor You and love You with all our beings.. to cling to You and follow Your ways. You are great and greatly to be praised. May Your Name be hallowed, Your Kingdom come, and Your will be done.. on earth as it is in heaven. We need You now, Lord God. Come and heal our land. Turn hearts back to You. May our nation choose You.
Thank You that all things are possible for You! We have no other salvation, but that which You have ordained through Jesus Christ our Lord. It is in His name that we pray. Amen.
