Hebrews 2:1-4

"For this reason we must pay closer attention to what we have heard.. "  For what reason?

Because Jesus is:

The Heir of Everything;
The One through whom and for whom all creation was made;
The Radiance of God's glory;
The exact representation of God's nature;
The upholder of all things;
The One who has made purification of sins;
The One who sits at the right hand of the Majesty on high:
The One who has the more Excellent Name - SON
The One who is begotten - not created - by God
The One who fulfills the covenant of David - to reign on the throne forever;
The One who has a righteous scepter in His hand;
The One who loves righteousness and hates lawlessness;
The One who has been anointed by God;
The One who laid the foundation of earth and heaven;
and The One who will roll it up like a mantle and change it like a garment;
The One who never changes and whose years will never end;
The One whose enemies will be made a footstool for His feet..

Because of Who Jesus is.. we must pay closer attention to what He says..

2: 2-4 " If the word spoken through angels",  the Law given to Moses,  "proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense.."

then... " how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at first spoken through the Lord.."  Every word that Jesus spoke was an offering of good news:

Matthew 4: 17 " From that time Jesus began to preach and say, 'Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand'"
Mark 1:15 "... the time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel."
Luke 4: 18-19 " The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor.  He sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are downtrodden, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord."
John 3:16 " For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."

His words were "confirmed to us by those who heard..."  and God Himself bore witness with them, "both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will. "

His Words... of the arrival of the Kingdom of God, the kingdom received by faith,  the kingdom offered to all who would repent and believe.. let us not "neglect so great a salvation."

Father in heaven, Majesty on high, how great are You, our God and Father of the Lord, Jesus Christ who has brought good news.. even to us.  Open our eyes to see and our ears to hear.. all that our Lord desires to speak to us.. May our love grow deeper and our faith be greater, for we come in His excellent name, Jesus, the Beloved Son, amen.
