II Peter 2 This is a hard chapter.. for Peter describes those who are headed to destruction.  False prophets, false teachers... the greedy, sensual, corrupt, and sinful mankind.  Those who refuse to walk in Truth.. who do not live "by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ".. . Those who have corrupt desires, who despise authority, are self willed.. who revel and carouse.. who are full of adultery "and that never cease from sin". ( v10-14)  These, Peter asserts, are "accursed".  They will stand before the Judgement throne. "These are springs without water, mists driven by a storm, for whom the black darkness has been reserved." ( v17)

The problem is universal.  False teachers lead others away from the Truth into "destructive heresies". They "malign the Master". They exploit others. And they will not be spared from judgement. 

We must we aware.. firm in our knowledge of the Lord Jesus.  We can stand in faith, for "the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for a day of judgement." ( v9). 

Father in heaven, keep us in Your Light.. shine Your Truth into our hearts, fill us with the Living Water by Your Spirit.  May we walk in righteousness and never turn away. Oh Lord, in Your mercy, turn hearts back to You.. rescue the perishing.. save the rebellious... bring salvation to the lost.  Let the Word, the Truth of Jesus Christ fill this land. We ask this in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ.. who came to set prisoners free.. Amen.
