Matthew 6: 10b "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven."  This third request is as vital and as significant as the first two.. for if we sincerely pray that God's name is kept holy and that His kingdom come.. then we agree that these are His will and that these things must be done "as it is in heaven".

Think of how the will of God is manifested in heaven!  The Name of God is constantly glorified and exalted. He reigns completely with perfect holiness and there is NO darkness or sin or evil at all. Oh that such glory and purity and holiness would be done "on earth"!

For the Kingdom to come is God's will.. His desire..it is why Christ came to earth in the form of a man, why He died on a cruel cross, and why He rose again.  Jesus prayed this same prayer in the garden of Gethsemane .. "My Father if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Thy will be done."  It was the Father's will that the Son be crucified so that the Kingdom could come to earth "as it is in heaven".  It was the price that Jesus paid for sin. It was the sacrifice that completed the Law. It was the Light that obliterated the darkness. It was the righteousness that overwhelmed the evil. Jesus DID the will of the Father.. in every deed.. in every word.. and in His own death and resurrection!

It is God's will that the Kingdom come in each of us. That we are fully His. I keep going back to Matthew 12:25-29  where Jesus told the Pharisees that "any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself shall not stand."  Jesus told them, "But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you."  John wrote, ".. the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose that He might destroy the works of the devil."  The more that we seek "His Kingdom and His righteousness".. the more we die to self and live by faith in the Son of God.. the more we become Kingdom bearers.  Jesus has cast out demons and darkness and evil and given us His Spirit to fill us and make us more like Himself.. doers of the Father's will. Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Father in heaven, gracious and mighty God, reign is us today! Let us not be divided in our hearts but to always love You with all of our hearts and minds and souls and bodies!  Let Your will be done in us and in our church and in our world. Let Your Kingdom come throughout this nation and around this world..  so that evil will  be vanquished by the power of Your Spirit..and that many more will be delivered from the reign of darkness "and transferred ...to the kingdom of [Your]  beloved Son." ( Col. 1:13) This we ask in the Name of Jesus, our wonderful, powerful  Savior and King, Amen.
