Romans 2

"Therefore"chapter 2 begins  :

Because "the righteousness of God is revealed by faith"  - the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the "power of God for salvation to everyone who believes";  we are saved by faith and walk by faith in Christ Jesus our Lord.

 And because "the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against ungodliness and unrighteousness of men.." 

" Therefore you are without excuse..."   God has clearly revealed His righteousness by giving His Son, the Lamb of God, the Redeemer.   God has clearly revealed His wrath, punishing those who refuse to believe and repent - giving them over to impurity, degrading passions, and depraved minds.

Paul writes that those who judge others yet practice the same things are storing up wrath for themselves!  It is not what you teach or preach that God considers... it is what you do!  God will "render to every man according to his deeds."  ( v6)  Paul contrasts the 2 types of responses to God's revelation of Himself:

Those who persevere in doing good:                                    
Seeking glory, honor, immortality, eternal life, they do good, they are doers of the Law  .                          
Those who are Gentiles, not under the law, have the law written on their hearts and conscience.                    
They may not be physically circumcised, but their hearts are - as they practice the law, being led by the Spirit                    
They will be praised by God!
                                                 
Those who are selfishly ambitious:   Do not obey the truth but obey unrighteousness, wrath, and indignation.They do evil.  They boast in God, they know the Law, but they do not practice what they teach.  Their outward circumcision means nothing.


Father in heaven,  Thank You for clearly revealing Your will and Yourself.  Your desire for us is to believe in Christ and to walk by faith in the Holy Spirit's leading.   You have given us the choice of obedience or disobedience;  To choose this day, whom we will serve.  Once again, we choose to serve You, the only true God.  You alone are worthy.  You are the giver of Life.  You are the Holy and Righteous Lord, God of all creation.  We will not bow to any other.  We know that it is "the kindness of God" that leads us to repentance. We praise the riches of Your kindness and forbearance and patience. ( v4).   Thank You. Blessing and honor and power to the Lord and to the Lamb.  Amen
