Matthew 25: 31-46 The conversation began with the disciples asking about the time of Christ's return.. and Jesus has been giving them instructions.. to be alert.. to be ready.. to be faithful.. to take responsibility for the work He has given them to do. Now, He tells them the end result.. "But, when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne."
Before His throne every nation will come.. and He will separate the "sheep from the goats". Those who are "righteous" will be put on His right side. They are the ones who have been faithful.. they fed the hungry, gave water to the thirsty, visited the sick and the imprisoned, and clothed the naked. In other words.. they loved others as Jesus did.. "Truly I say to you to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even to the least of them, you did it to Me."
But, those who failed to show compassion or kindness to even one.. Jesus said they should depart from Him.. be accursed.. and enter the eternal fire.. for they did nothing for Him in their lifetime.
It is our calling.. our responsibility to be found faithfully doing the work that Jesus has given us to do.. the "good works" prepared for us to do ( Ephesians 2:10)
Father in heaven, help us to love You with all of our hearts and souls and minds and strength.. and to love our neighbors as ourselves. May we be filled with Your Spirit, walking in Your light and love.. showing that love to all we can as we walk with You in this lifetime. We are Your sheep and we desire to be busy doing those things that You have told us to do.. showing mercy and compassion to those in need. Help us to live this way.. in service to our Lord Jesus. Amen.
