Matthew 26 The time was coming.. Jesus tells His disciples.. "You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man is to be delivered up for crucifixion." 

The priests and elders "plotted together".

Jesus was anointed with the precious oil.

Judas made his bargain. 

They ate the last Passover meal together. 

They went to the garden. 

Jesus prayed and surrendered to the Father's will. 

The betrayal was completed. 

The first trial was held and the verdict was given. 

Peter denied Jesus. 

We are familiar with the details of these events.  We know that every detail was directed by the Father's will. The Scriptures were fulfilled.. perfectly.  Jesus would give His blood.. that sins would be forgiven.  Jesus said, " Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins." 

Covenant.. testament.  It is the arrangement that God made with us sealed in the blood of our Savior.  When someone prepares for their death they draw up a "last will and testament".. so that their property will be given over to their heirs.  It is a legal document with specific purposes.  Jesus is making this covenant with mankind.. giving His blood for the purpose of fulfilling the will of God.. the forgiveness of sin. With His death.. His body broken and His blood shed.. we are given life.. saved from the wrath that we deserve.

Hallelujah!  What a Savior!
